The Pushcart Book of Twenty-First Century Poetry and Prose

Reviews

"For 50 years, the annual Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses has showcased literary treasures. Now Pushcart founder and memoirist Henderson and Pulitzer Prize–winning poet and Pushcart poetry editor Schultz have revisited the first 25 Pushcart volumes of the twenty-first century to select pieces for this “best” anthology even as Henderson acknowledges, 'There is no "best," only creations that we love.' Readers will revel in 44 short stories, essays, and memoirs and 66 poems by diverse and enthralling writers who have earned prominence this quarter century or who will shape the next. Libraries with the run of Pushcart Prizes on their shelves must have this capstone volume, while for smaller collections this astutely and ardently curated gathering is a perfect one-stop compendium of stellar contemporary North American poetry and prose." — Donna Seaman, Booklist
